Some things deserve more than a text message.
Smile & Nod started on a dog walk. I was talking with a friend who lost her mom when she was a teenager. She said she always wished she could give her dad a card on Mother’s Day. Something that acknowledged what he was doing. Both jobs. No manual.
I knew exactly what she meant. I lost my husband to cancer in 2022. I’ve been the only parent since. And every time I walk into a card shop, I see a thousand options for a life that no longer fits mine.
So I started making the cards that should exist but don’t. The honest ones. The ones for the moments nobody prints.
That’s Smile & Nod. There’s a book coming. More on that soon.
